The Garden

The Garden is an ongoing series of cyanotypes on paper that explores alchemy and nature versus nurture. Each piece begins with the cyanotype process and is pushed further through experimentation; printing while the chemistry is still wet, incorporating elements such as vinegar, salt, coffee toning, and hammering plant matter directly into the print.

Once the paper has undergone this intense chemical transformation, fragments from other experiments are cut, layered, and assembled into the final compositions. Each work becomes a record of transformation through play, much like the experiences that shape us all.

This series invites the viewer to imagine everything the page has endured to arrive at its present form, much like all organic bodies. We are shaped by what happens to us, yet we can respond and create something uniquely our own.

Through themes of alchemy and the joys of being alive, The Garden celebrates the beauty found in imperfection and transformation.
